Get out and fish Lake Amistad! The bass are biting very well the past few weeks. We are catching 15-25 fish a day and several quality fish (4+lbs) included. I don’t know how long it’s going to last but it sure is fun. Water levels are very stable (1087 feet above sea level or 30ft low) and clarity is the best it has been since 2012. Water temps are in the high 50’s. The key is points… fish any point with deep water nearby and you will find some fish… not every point but keep hoping around and you will find one that has a school.
Current Patterns -
Shallow: Have not been in this depth zone, but I am sure there are some bass lingering around willing to eat a square bill, jerkbait or small swimbait.
Mid-Depth: Texas rig worms and light weight Carolina rigs with plastic lures with subtle action will be somewhat productive.
Deep: This is where you need to be! 25-35 feet on points with deep water access (river channel) of 60-100 foot depths. Concentrate with a drop-short or heavy shaky head for best results. There are some big schools and lots of keeper sized bass here… Have fun!
